April was a special and emotional month for us. After months of building, planning, painting, and fine-tuning, we finally reached a major milestone: welcoming our very first guests. But, as you might expect, the final days leading up to their arrival were filled with countless last-minute tasks and finishing touches.
We started by expanding the pool terrace with a wooden deck – a beautiful addition that added both space and warmth to the area. Wood immediately brings a sense of calm and blends naturally with the landscape. On the other side of the pool, we replaced the grass with fresh white gravel, giving everything a clean and well-kept appearance.
The parking area was also on our list. We installed a fence around the perimeter and, with great craftsmanship, my dad built a beautiful wooden staircase. It’s both practical and visually appealing – one of those details that really elevate a space.
We also planted lavender along the pool, which will soon bloom and fill the air with a lovely scent – the unmistakable fragrance of summer. Above the lounge area, we hung soft string lights. A small gesture, but one that adds just the right atmosphere when the sun goes down.
On the actual day of arrival, we were still putting finishing touches in place: spreading gravel right up to the edge of the pool, tidying up every corner, and hanging a cozy swing chair from the tree. A simple detail, but it immediately adds charm and invites guests to relax and take in the moment.
During the Easter holidays, we welcomed two families. It was exciting, nerve-wracking, and truly rewarding. Seeing our vision come to life and watching people enjoy the space we created with so much care – it was the best feeling imaginable.
April marked the beginning of something new. And it feels just right.
